Simon’s main practice is across commercial litigation, general disputes and in class actions.
He has worked in matters across different states and territories, the Federal jurisdiction, in matters at first instance and in the appellate jurisdictions, including the High Court of Australia, and in matters extending over international borders.
Simon has represented insurers, insureds, owners’ corporations, community associations, individuals, trustees, developers, companies and associations, directors and officers, trustees, medical professionals, members of parliament, business people and legal professionals, amongst others. He has worked with litigation funders.
Simon has been involved in many matters involving complex, highly technical and intricate questions of law, including conflict of laws, however, his focus is on delivering successful settlements and obtaining favourable judgments in a practical and commercial manner
Who I work with and what I do
Simon’s practice spans across many areas, some of which include:
- Insurance matters, including indemnity disputes, product defect and subrogated motor vehicle accident and home and contents insurance claims, and claims made on policies dealing with non-disclosure, misrepresentation, fraud, and other policy breaches.
- Consumer protection and competition law claims, including involving statutory guarantees, misleading and deceptive conduct, and unconscionable conduct.
- Corporations and associations law matters, including involving allegations of breaches of directors’ duties and claims of oppression.
- Property, leasing, strata and community title, planning, construction, retaining wall and fencing disputes.
- Debt recovery, by financial institutions and private clients, and insolvency matters.
- Cyber, data breaches and privacy law.
- Administrative and constitutional law; and
- Class actions, including mass torts, consumer claims and shareholder actions.
What I like to do
Outside of work, Simon has an interest in collecting and tasting different teas, playing chess, and reading books.
